EATON MTL1145

Eaton MTL1145 is a compact signal conditioner from the MTL1000 series, designed for isolation and repetition of industrial 4-20mA analog signals. The device has one channel with a fully floating output and can be used in both analog output and analog input applications.

In current source mode, the MTL1145 accepts a 4-20mA output signal, electrically isolates it and repeats the signal on the output side. The repeated signal is loop-powered from the original analog output source, eliminating the need for a separate module power supply.

The module can alternatively operate in current sink mode. In this configuration, a loop-powered field transmitter can be supplied through the isolator from a two-wire system input. Eaton notes that greater measurement accuracy is achieved when the device operates in current source mode.

The MTL1145 supports an extended 0-22mA input and output signal range, providing sufficient over-range capability for standard 4-20mA instrumentation loops. Response time is approximately 5 ms, making the module suitable for industrial process-control and automation applications.

Functional isolation between the relevant circuits is rated at 250V AC or DC, with the unit tested at 1100V AC. The module has a maximum internal power dissipation of less than 0.16W.

The compact housing is only 6.2 mm wide and is designed for DIN rail installation, allowing high-density installation in industrial control cabinets.

The MTL1145 does not support HART communication pass-through. Therefore, it is intended primarily for conventional analog current-loop signal isolation rather than applications requiring HART data transmission.
